A Fort Carson soldier has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a 19-year-old comrade in May during a deployment in Jordan.
Spc. Jeffery T. Page, 23, of Peerysburg, Ohio, is accused in the death of Spc. Adrian M. Perkins of Pine Valley, Calif.
Military documents say Page shot Perkins with an M4 rifle at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Al-Azraq, Jordan, on May 15. Perkins died at a hospital in Amman, Jordan.
Page is charged with murder, manslaughter, negligent homicide and failure to obey an order or regulation. Page faces a pretrial hearing Wednesday to determine whether there is sufficient evidence for court-martial proceedings.
Page, a member of the 2nd armored Brigade Combat Team, has served in the military for two years and seven months and is the recipient of several accolades.
Perkins, a member of the 2nd armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, served in the military for one year and nine months before he was killed. The specialist was the recipient of several military accolades. The military initially said Perkins died of a “non-combat related injury.”
