This week will see Lars and the boys attempt to regain the faith of the fans and see if there’s any more tricks left up their sleeves with a week long residency on Craig Ferguson’s, “Late Late Show.” The late night move was quickly combated with a week long residency by U2 on “the Tonight Show,” however, Bono learned the hard way that biking in Manhattan is no easy feat and has subsequently cancelled the U2 visit as a result of a cycling injury.
The Californian heavy metal act delved deep into their repertoire with a vengeance with the selection of “Hit the Lights” taken from the 1983 masterpiece, “Kill ‘Em All.” And what kind of Metallica performance would it be if James Hetfield wasn’t pummeling his signature Flying V? Monday’s testosterone fueled performance reminded all of those youngsters how metal is done. It didn’t hurt that Kirk Hammett melted plenty of faces in the process in a successful day one of the Metallica residency with Craig Ferguson.
