A Bennett woman has been charged with theft and forgery in connection with the embezzlement of more than $15,000 from an elementary school parent-teacher-student association.
Angelita Sue Ramos, 39, faces seven counts each of theft and forgery for allegedly taking checks and cash from the association at Bennett Elementary School between 2012 and 2013, officials say.
“The charges allege that she forged signatures on checks and stole cash from fundraising events held at the school, including book fairs,” the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
Ramos was arrested Tuesday and her bond was set at $5,000, the office said.
