L.L. Bean is set for the grand opening of its westernmost and this weekend at Park Meadows in Lone Tree.

The outdoor gear and apparel retailer will be hosting a three-day event at the 13,000-square-foot store with giveaways — such as a free L.L. Bean gift card worth up to $500 to the first 200 customers at the store when it opens Friday, Nov. 21, at 9 a.m.

There will be outdoor demonstrations and clinics, slacklining demonstrations, free hot cocoa and cookies, food sampling and a Nordic ski simulator.

The store, which fills the space left by the Grand Lux Cafe, will employ 80 people and feature active and casual apparel and footwear and outdoor gear, including kayaking, camping, hiking and fly-fishing items, according to a news release from the company. This is the L.L.Bean’s 22nd store outside of Maine.

As part of the opening, the company has commissioned Colorado artist Tim Deibler to produce a painting of Colorado’s Mount Adams to be featured on the cover of the company’s Christmas catalog, as well as displayed at the store Nov. 21-Dec. 19. Customers can enter to win the painting; the winner will be announced Dec. 19.
