Brighton police are investigating more than 79 instances of vehicle windows having been shot out with a high-powered BB or pellet gun over an 18-hour period.

Police believe the vandalism began at 7 p.m. Wednesday and the shots were fired from a moving vehicle, possibly a gray or light-colored SUV.

Authorities say the recent spate of window shootings is related to a number of similar cases reported in the past few weeks.

Brighton Ford, which had 14 windows shot out in late October, has donated $2,000 to Crime Stoppers as a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the crimes. The Crime Stoppers tip line is 720-913-7867.
