GLENDALE, Ariz. — From a 3-0 deficit, the Avalanche wins 4-3 in overtime to collect 8-of-10 points in its last five games. I had good video of captain Gabe Landeskog but it didn’t load. He basically said something special happened in Saturday’s 4-3 win over Carolina after the Avs trailed 3-1 and that continued here against the Coyotes. This team really came alive when Calvin Pickard replaced Reto Berra in net — for the second straight game — and the Avs were the better team from late in the first period to the end. They outshoot Arizona in the second and third periods and OT and 35-33 overall. The game story is .

Avs defenseman Erik Johnson seemed fine after the game, coach Patrick Roy said, but he appeared knocked out by Martin Hanzel in OT — they collided when Johnson lowered himself as a follow-thru on a shot — but we won’t know if Johnson has a concussion until Wednesday.

Roy said Calvin Pickard will start Wednesday night against the visiting and well-rested Chicago Blackhawks. Pickard’s father, Dan, and his former junior billet family were in attendance at Gila River Arena.

Daniel Briere was looking for a back-door play to defenseman Zach Redmond when Hanzal tried to get a stick on the pass. The puck caromed in off his stick.

Avs defenseman Jan Hejda:

From NHL situation room about Matt Duchene’s game-tying goal (he basically got the goal and primary assist, unofficially):

At 4:05 of the third period in the Avalanche/Coyotes game, the Situation Room initiated a video review to examine whether Matt Duchene’s first shot crossed the Arizona goal line, which it did not. However, video review confirmed that Duchene’s second shot crossed the goal line in a legal fashion therefore the referee’s call on the ice stands – good goal Colorado.
