Law enforcement officers in Pueblo investigating an assault shot and killed an armed man on Tuesday night at a gas station.
The shooting happened about 6:30 p.m. at the Loaf ‘N Jug near the intersection of 4th Street and Troy Avenue. Pueblo police officers and county sheriff’s deputies were attempting to contact the man, a person of interest in an earlier assault, before shots were fired.
The man, Jon Jaquez, 26, of Pueblo, died at the scene.
Further information about the shooting was not provided by authorities. The county district attorney’s office is investigating.
Authorities were investigating the man in connection with an assault earlier in the day that left a 23-year-old man seriously injured.
