A winter weather advisory is in effect for much of the high country through Wednesday midday as another band of winter storms moves through the state, potentially dropping as much as 14 inches of snow in some areas.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Boulder say areas of Summit County could see up to eight inches of snow and blizzard conditions as high winds blow across mountain peaks.
“Roads will be snowpacked and icy with areas of poor visibility,” the service said. “Travel will be slow and hazardous.”
Snow is expected to begin Tuesday afternoon and pick up as the day continues on.
A high wind warning is again in effect on Tuesday along the Front Range from the Wyoming border through Douglas County.
The warning expires at 5 a.m. on Wednesday.
Gusts up to 90 mph area possible in wind prone areas, including the Boulder area, the service says.
The high winds could impact driving and “high profile vehicles should consider delaying travel until the winds subside,” the service says.
