A 48-year-old pedestrian critically injured when on Sunday night has died, police said Tuesday.
The victim has been identified as John Thomas Gilmore III.
Robert McGhee, 58, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular assault. The assault charge was upgraded to vehicular homicide following Gilmore’s death.
About 7 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to reports of a man lying in the middle of the street near the intersection of 28th Avenue and Tabor Court. There they found Gilmore in the street, suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Gilmore was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he died.
Police say McGhee has been cooperative with the investigation into the hit-and-run.
