NOV 26 1965: It’s Beginning To Look — and Feel — Like Christmas. Even the weather was crisp and Christmasy in Denver Friday, the day after Thanksgiving and the unofficial start of the Christmas shopping season. Denverites, after an overnight snow, bundled into furs and overcoats and got the feeling of Christmas, weatherwise, to start the Yuletide shopping. By mid-morning crosswalk were busy, store aisles were crowded and traffic lanes were jammed with vehicles. This scene at 16th and Welton Sts., looking toward Broadway, was typical of the jam of shoppers who turned out early to give Santa a helping hand. Denver Post photo by Lowell Georgia

Black Friday’s a relatively recent phenomenon, but shopping on the day after Thanksgiving isn’t. Thanks to Vickie Makings for supplying this photo.
