4) Leftover Salmon — Nov. 28-29, Boulder Theater

Leftover Salmon’s vocalist/guitarist Vince Herman has a lot of love for the Colorado music scene. When show we asked him about what it meant for the bluegrass band to play the same show as Method Man and Redman. “Itap a great indicator of the diversity of music in the Mile High City,” he said. “Thatap what means itap a live music scene and in that sense we have some Austin-like things going on. I think itap a great thing.” And after all, he should be pleased with the Colorado music scene, as that’s where the band found success. Now playing , Leftover Salmon plays two nights at the Boulder Theater on Nov. 28-29.

3) Johnny Marr — Nov. 28, Gothic Theatre

Face it, you’re never going to see the Smiths. It’s been 27 years since they broke up and it’s just not going to happen. Johnny Marr and Morrissey just hate each other, and it’s hard enough to get Morrissey to finish his own tour. So, here’s what you can do. Were you able catch Morrissey’s long-awaited show at Ellie Caulkins Opera House? If you were there, now follow that up by going to see Marr at the Gothic Theatre on Nov. 28. After you’ve seen them both, just imagine them both on stage together. Yeah, it’s not perfect, but that’s pretty much the best you’re going to get in 2014.

2) Usher — Dec. 2, 1stBank Center

Remember 2003? Yeah! Of course you do, that was the year of “Yeah!”. Did anything else happen in 2003 other than Usher sharing that synth horn hook with the world? Did we launch a war on Iraq? Did Lance Armstrong win his fifth Tour De France? Were we calling French Fries “Freedom Fries?” Possibly, but all we can remember is Usher dancing in a blue club with lasers, Lil Jon and Ludacris. For the better part of two decades, Usher has been one of the music industry’s hottest R&B artists. He’s so fresh that his dance moves and beats cloud our memories of world history. Usher returns to Colorado to play the 1stBank Center on Dec. 2. ($39-$154, 1stbankcenter.com)

1) Jenny Lewis — Dec. 2, Ogden Theatre

Returning for her third show in the state this year, people in Colorado must certainly love Jenny Lewis. And how could you not? She’s quick with a wink and a smile and her music is just as charming as her personality. At her shows, Jenny Lewis’ fans are adoring, singing every word and melting with every wink, every smile. Is it because Lewis has some pop country roots that flatters a country loving state? Is it that she’s a Western doll we can identify with? Or maybe, people in Colorado just tend to be as nice as she is. Well, when she plays the Bluebird Theater on Dec. 2. ($26, ogdentheatre.com)
