The arms race among nations willing to expend ever-increasing amounts of money to hold Olympic games has been alarming.

Fortunately, the saying this week it would make it cheaper and easier to bid for an Olympic games.

Perhaps it was the breathtaking — and record-breaking — for the Winter Games in 2014 Sochi that prompted such action. Or maybe it was the fact that in the running for the 2022 Winter Games derailed their bids.

As you may recall, Colorado was one of the cities contemplating a 2022 Winter Games bid. However, the as the U.S. Olympic Committee put its resources into formulating a bid for an upcoming Summer Games.

While love of the outdoors and all its sports are ingrained in Colorado culture, so too is fiscal prudence.
