A 23-year-old Colorado Springs man is dead after a single-vehicle rollover crash in El Paso County Sunday afternoon, officials said.
Joseph Burnam was driving his 1995 Toyota 4Runner southbound on Ellicott Highway, when the vehicle went off the right side of the road, according to a news release by Colorado State Patrol.
Burnam drove back onto the road and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to rotate clockwise, the release said.
The Toyota continued northbound, began to roll and went off the right side of the road, the release said.
The State Patrol said the vehicle rolled twice and collided with a barbed wire fence.
“The driver was ejected during the rolling sequence,” the release said.
The release said Burnam was unrestrained and that alcohol and drugs are being investigated as contributing factors.
