KANSAS CITY, MO. — Sunday provided an Instagram-perfect scene at Arrowhead Stadium. Sunny skies, green grass, and, gulp, bitter temperatures. At 3 p.m. Central Time, the thermometer sat at 32 degrees according to The Weather Channel.
And it expects to drop into the 20s by kickoff. Weather makes for fun conversation, and it’s combatants are worthy of praise (I am sure there will be beverages to take the edge off in this wind). In Denver, the weather can be a sensitive subject. Not sure if you’ve heard but Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is 8-12 when the temperature reads 40 degrees or lower.
He’s 1-3 over the past two seasons, beating the Tennessee Titans and falling to the San Diego Chargers and the New England Patriots twice.
The weather could figure into the decision to play tight end Julius Thomas and cornerback Aqib Talib. Thomas is battling a sore left ankle, and was extremely limited in practice, meaning it would be a mild surprise if he plays. Talib worked out more than Thomas on Friday, testing his hamstring. He remains a game-time decision.
