Dozens of Denver fast-food workers walked off the job on Thursday as part of a nationwide protest of low wages in what organizers are calling the “biggest-ever strike” of its kind.
The workers flooded 16th Street Mall chanting and waving signs.
The strike, which is coordinated in 190 U.S. cities, was based around calls for a $15 minimum wage for fast-food workers.
Organizers say about 100 people participated in a 6 a.m. protest earlier Thursday and they were expecting about 300 during the lunchtime strike.
A handful of people were outside of the McDonald’s on Colfax Avenue near the Capitol.
