family fun: Parade of Lights to dazzle city and mark 40 years

friday-saturday. Once the switch was thrown on Denver’s “grand illumination” last weekend, downtown’s holiday festivities could begin in earnest (ceremonially, anyway). One of the earliest and most popular is 9News’ Parade of Lights, which uses the brightly decorated City and County Building as its backdrop and launch point. More than 40 balloons and floats, along with 600 marching band members, will herald the season along the 40th annual parade’s two-mile route. Parade viewing is free and grandstand tickets outside the City and Counting Building cost $16-$20 via (children under 2 are free). The parade starts at 8 p.m. Dec. 5 and 6 p.m. Dec. 6 at 1437 Bannock St. View the full route at . John Wenzel
