Steve and Gail Lohman have been decorating their house at 6326 S. Florence Way in Englewood for the last 30 years — “of course, the decorations have evolved a bit,” said Gail. Steve made the sled, the elves, the lighted tree and Rudolph, drawing them freehand on plywood and then cutting them out, “without the stencils that are out there. The display has between 3,000 and 4,000 lights, which the couple has switched over to LEDs for better energy efficiency. Gail says the neighborhood kids eagerly watch the three-day process of erecting all the decorations. It’s their third year of entering The Denver Post Holiday Lights contest, and they invite spectators to take family photos under the candy cane arch and drop off a letter to Santa in the animated mailbox.
