Re: “Colorado aims low in water conservation,” Dec. 2 news story.
Once again, the concept of the conservation of water is so pervasive there is no mention of conserving anything else directly involved with water. And the most predominant component of the water issue is, of course, the public.
The worry is that there will not be enough water for the public; growth is always the assumption that is never questioned.
But at least one question should be addressed: Are we to conserve water so we can perpetually grow?
As Edward Abbey wrote in “Desert Solitaire,” “growth for the sake of growth is a cancerous madness … .”
With that, I would say Colorado’s aim regarding water conservation reaches the lowest.
