1 Racism at Yummy Donuts. Lakewood officers responded to Yummy Donuts, 7625 W. Hampden Ave., on Nov. 26 regarding a trespass. The owner said a man he told to leave earlier in the week returned and was being aggressive toward him. The owner said the man flipped him off and threw an empty liquor bottle at him. The aggressor, a U.S. Army veteran, said he thought the owner was Arab, and that he hates Arabs “because they were beheading people.” The trespasser was cited for disorderly conduct.

2 Man vs. car. On Nov. 29, Edgewater police officers responded to the 2200 block of Sheridan Boulevard regarding a vehicle and pedestrian traffic collision. A 22-year-old man sustained major injuries to his head, torso and legs when he was struck by a vehicle as he walked in the traffic lanes of Sheridan Boulevard in the dark. Officers determined that the pedestrian was at fault.

3 Dog attack. On Nov. 27, Lakewood police responded to a dog attack that had occurred in the 11100 block of West Exposition Drive. A man was on his roof putting up Christmas lights when his dog got loose and attacked a woman and her dog, which she was taking for a walk. She was treated for bites to her hand, and the man was cited.

4 Man, fresh from prison, robs ex-girlfriend. On Dec. 5, an officer responded to the 2600 block of Depew Street, Edgewater, regarding a burglary investigation during which jewelry and clothing were stolen. The resident’s ex-boyfriend, who was just released from prison, is suspected, and he also has a felony warrant for a parole violation. The investigation is continuing.
