Aurora police are investigating a Wednesday incident in which a pedestrian was seriously injured when a man suffering a medical episode struck him with his car.
Officials said the incident happened at about 12:30 p.m. at the entrance to the Friendly Village Mobile Home Park, located at East Colfax Avenue and Airport Boulevard.
Police reports said a black, 2014 Chrysler 200 sedan was westbound on Colfax approaching the intersection at Airport Boulevard. The driver, a 63-year-old male, appeared to have had some kind of medical episode causing him to pass out or black out behind the wheel.
The vehicle veered to the right and went off the roadway into the driveway of the Friendly Village Mobile Home Park. The pedestrian, a 38-year-old male, was walking eastbound across the driveway and was struck by the vehicle.
Neither the driver or pedestrian’s names were released by police.
Police said the pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. The driver was treated on scene by the Aurora Fire Department rescue and released into police custody. No alcohol or drug impairment is suspected at this time. Charges against the driver are pending.
