Rock on Ice
Crested Butte’s ice-carving festival, “Rock on Ice,” continues through Dec. 20. Using huge blocks of ice, carvers create giant interactive sculptures of holiday characters, animals and iconic figures. Catch an ice-carving demonstration and see all the sculptures on display in the Courtyard at Mountaineer Square.
Winterfest in Beaver Creek
Winterfest in Beaver Creek begins Dec. 20. Events take place daily from 3 to 6 p.m. and include family activities like parades, winter carnivals, contests, holiday lightings and meet-and-greets with kid-friendly WinterFest characters like polar bears, mountain lions and penguins. Events vary each week and run through Jan. 3.
Holidaze in Vail
Vail’s Family Holidaze are Dec. 21 and Dec. 31. On the 21st, enjoy Vail’s tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. at Slifer Square, with live entertainment and hot chocolate. On the 31st, ring in the new year watching skiers light up the night on Golden Peak with a torchlight parade, followed by fireworks.
Fancy tea in Breck
Take a Victorian Tour and Tea through Breckenridge’s Historic District on Sat. Dec. 27. Learn about the town’s mining history and famous figures from the turn of the century, and visit a restored Victorian home while enjoying tea and treats. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Reservations are required.
