In honor of Rocky Mountain National Park’s centennial, park officials are challenging people to spend more time in the park in the coming year.
Park officials urge people to hike, climb, snowshoe or hike 100 miles in the next year in the park.
Julie Nelson of Loveland and her father, Bill Perry, have accepted the challenge and plan to hike 100 miles in the coming year. She wants to remind herself and the public not to take the park for granted.
“I know people who have lived here for years and have never been up there. Or they go only when they have company in town,” she said.
