All lanes are now open after an accident on southbound Interstate 25 at Speer Boulevard was expected to cause “extensive delays” during the evening commute, according to a tweet by the Colorado Department of Transportation.

One lane of traffic was getting by earlier in the evening, CDOT said.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said traffic was backed to Interstate 70 and that delays on the bridge could be up to an hour.

As an alternate route, CDOT suggested Interstate 270.

Another accident on the southbound lanes of I-25 just south of Castle Rock has traffic blocked, and northbound lanes slowing, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

A post by the CSP on Twitter said that a helicopter was being called to the scene for a medical evacuation.
