Interview with Ryan Hubbart, business manager
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: We are a family-owned and -operated business. Dr. Tracy is a second-generation doctor of veterinary medicine who started the practice in 1997 as a sole practitioner. It has grown to four doctors since then. I personally took over managing the practice about a year and a half ago when Dr. Tracy’s wife and my mother-in-law stepped away to focus on her real estate career.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: We are a local family-owned and -operated business. We practice traditional small animal medicine as well as a holistic approach when necessary. This includes laser therapy, acupuncture, message, rehab and energy balancing. We also use natural vitamins and supplements when possible to heal rather than traditional pharmaceuticals. Dr. Tracy specializes in English bulldogs and has personally bred and raised them. We offer a more comfortable, down-home environment rather than the sterile hospital experience. This makes pets more comfortable when visiting us. We are full-service, offering not only medicine but boarding and grooming.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: What we enjoy most about practicing veterinary medicine is ability to help those patients that need us by offering a comfortable environment, where sound and affordable medicine is practiced.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: Increasing raw material prices, increased competition and finding good people who have the same values as we do as a practice.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: We practice holistic medicine as well as traditional.
