Pairing painting and wine

Get artsy in Frisco at a canvas-painting party on Dec. 27. Guided by local artist Sheila Trowbridge, participants will paint a whimsical bird scene and enjoy a glass of beer or wine while painting. Winter wilderness

Ski or snowshoe in the wilderness with a park ranger in Rocky Mountain National Park on Dec. 27 and Jan. 3. Guided cross-country ski tours of Kawuneeche Valley begin at 9:30 a.m., and beginner snowshoe tours are at 1 p.m. Reservations are required for both. 970-627-3471

Chocolate at Keystone

Take a break from the ski slopes and head to Keystone mountain’s Chocolate Village through Jan. 4. This annual holiday tradition displays a miniature alpine village crafted out of 8,000 pounds of chocolate, complete with a working chocolate gondola, chocolate waterfall, a 4-foot white chocolate Christmas tree and more.
