Getting your player ready...

An open letter from Michael Morean

As the youngest in my family, I grew up playing rough with my older siblings. I was constantly trying to keep up and compete with my much bigger and stronger brother and sister. If nothing else, this gave me a competitive nature that I still hold today.

As I grew up and began playing football and lacrosse, my competitiveness grew. I wasn’t just competing with the other team, but competing with myself. Every snap and every whistle, I pushed to be the best that I could be and work as hard as I possibly could.

When I entered high school, I realized this attitude could be transferred to my schoolwork. Just as I have to work to intercept the ball or get a goal, I must work equally hard to get a good grade on a test.

The truth is that the ability to work and compete comes from your character. A person who is driven to work tirelessly in all parts of their life has a character destined for success.

But this success isn’t given, it’s earned. Whether it be success in school, success in sports or merely success as a member of the community, there is always work to be put in. As a senior in high school, this is the type of character I strive for and the type of person I try to be.

Sincerely,

Michael Morean
