Getting your player ready...

During a visit to Dish Network yesterday, I got a chance to enter through the Star Wars entrance. It’s not really called that but maybe it should be. It’s south of the main entrance.

And who could not help notice that behind the festive Christmas trees in the lobby, Darth Vader loomed stoically next to a treasure trove of Star Wars memorabilia?

And who could pass up the opportunity to take a few pics? Not I!

Life-size replicas of Darth, a stormstrooper and R2D2. Signed (by creature-designer !) models of those clumsy Walkers.

Where did they come from?

Blockbuster, said John Hall, a Dish spokesman. Dish video service for $320 million back in April 2011. Not much came of the purchase and Dish ended up last year.

But Dish got the Star Wars props! (There is also the hourglass from the Wizard of Oz and a mask from the Terminator.)

The lobby is open to visitors but the in unincorporated Douglas County isn’t one where random Star Wars fans stroll by.
