Wednesday. If 2014 broke your bank — and for many of us, it shattered, pulverized and blew away the bank’s remaining dust — there’s hope in free New Year’s Eve fun: Downtown Denver’s 13th annual fireworks display offers a pair of chances to catch the festive (and family-friendly) fireworks along the 16th Street Mall on Dec. 31. A 9 p.m. show will cater to those looking for a less rowdy New Year’s Eve, while the midnight offering typically draws out revelers from the bars and clubs along the city’s main tourist corridor for a twinkling affirmation that, yes, 2015 is still ripe with promise. Or at least a bit of free entertainment. Both shows are identical and synchronized to music from DJs along the Mall. .
