KREMMLING, Colo. (AP) — The Colorado River is getting a second whitewater park for kayaking and board surfing, this one near Kremmling in Grand County.
The Steamboat Pilot & Today reports (http://bit.ly/13JC9KN ) that kayaking play parks have sprung up across the West, but that the region’s largest waterway has only one engineered kayaking park. That’s the popular Glenwood Springs Whitewater Park.
The Gore Canyon Whitewater Park will be located where the Colorado emerges from the Gore Canyon and enters the meandering flats of the Pumphouse Recreation Area.
The park will be usable from early spring through fall for Colorado paddlers. The project is scheduled to be complete by April 2015.
