Denver B-cycle’s bike-sharing system announced its first increase in rates in three years along with a new, less expensive monthly membership program that will automatically renew.
Beginning Thursday, annual memberships will jump from $80 to $90 with daily, 24-hour access increasing from $8 to $9, said Denver B-cycle executive director Nick Bohnenkamp.
“It’s great that we haven’t increased prices in a while, but we want to make sure that if we do it, we add value,” he said, noting there will be additional customer-service hours, more bikes available at the right times and a significant increase in stations over the years.
The program is also launching a $15 monthly membership that will renew automatically, Bohnenkamp said, as opposed to its previous $30 monthly membership rate that required customers to resubscribe.
