The Resolve 5K/10K

Jan. 3: “Resolve to be awesome in 2015” is the theme for the annual race offering a 5K, 10K and Kid’s Sprint followed by a post-race celebration with refreshments, music, children’s activities and awards. Start time is 9 a.m. The flat course is at City Park, run it once for the 5K and twice for the 10K. $40-$45 single entry, $140-$160 for teams. Resolution 5K

Dec. 31: The 30th annual 5K invites participants to “run, walk, jog, stroll or skip.” Start time is 5 p.m. Those with the best New Year’s Eve costume may win gift cards. Fees start at $25. Guided hikes

Jan. 1: Colorado Parks and Wildlife is sponsoring guided hikes in 27 of Colorado’s 42 state parks as part of America’s State Parks First Day Hikes Initiative. The program was created to “offer everyone an opportunity to begin the New Year rejuvenating and connecting with the outdoors at a state park close to home.” Approximately 28,000 people hiked 68,811 miles on last year’s First Day Hike according to the National Association of State Park Directors. Life Time Commitment Day Festival and 5K
