A fire roared through a mobile home in Thornton on Monday morning, displacing a family of five who lived there.
The Thornton Fire Department got a call at 5:25 a.m., said Battalion Chief Gary Wilmes.
“A neighbor saw the fire, pounded on the doors and walls, and they got out,” Wilmes said of the woman and two children who occupied the trailer at the Friendly Village Mobile Home Park at 2100 W. 100th Ave.
American Red Cross volunteers responded to the fire, offering assistance to the family. It was the sixth Red Cross home fire response in Colorado since Christmas Eve.
Neighboring trailers received some smoke damage, but didn’t burn, Wilmes said. Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 15 minutes.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. “It is still under investigation at this point,” Wilmes said.
