Re: “FDA moves to end ban on blood donations from gay men,” Dec. 24 news story.

Gay men make up only 1.6 percent of the population, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. Why would we put people who need blood transfusions at risk from people who engage in unhealthy lifestyles? This sounds like a political move for acceptance, rather than what is necessary for our blood supply.
