Getting your player ready...

Some criminals are so incorrigible that the only way to keep them from repeating their favorite offenses is to get them out of society.

But is five years in prison long enough for who helped raise four boys in conditions of absolute deprivation and filth until his arrest last year?

Probably not, but it’s a heck of a lot more appropriate than the 90 days in prison the boys’ mother, 37-year-old Lorinda Bailey, received in November.

And it will keep Sperling from starting another family — or at least keep him from doing so for several years. Remember, even before Sperling’s and Bailey’s arrests in 2013, they both had pleaded guilty twice to misdemeanor child abuse charges, in 2006 and 2009. And their more recent abuse of the four boys, ages 2, 4, 5 and 6, was incessant; the children were living in a hellhole.

Bailey got a slap on the wrist two months ago. But at least Sperling, the ringleader, will be in no position to abuse another child for a decent amount of time.
