marijuana blog will be shut down on Dec. 31, according to the site’s editor.
“Due to circumstances *well beyond* my control (because if I could control them this wouldn’t be happening), TokeOfTheTown.com will no longer be operational as of tomorrow,” William Breathes wrote on on Dec. 30. “Thank you to everyone who read and supported me as the editor for the last few years — I’ve had a blast and hope to do more with national news in the future.”
Breathes is the pen name chosen by Toke’s editor, who is also one of the world’s longest-running marijuana critics — at Village Voice Media’s Denver alt-weekly Westword.

The Cannabist reached out to Westword editor Patty Calhoun on Dec. 30, but she said any questions about Toke of the Town’s future would need to be directed to Village Voice Media’s corporate offices. Messages left with Village Voice Media’s corporate office went unreturned as of this article’s publication on the afternoon of Dec. 30.
Breathes noted in his Facebook post that he will continue to write his reviews of pot shops — as well as his Ask a Stoner column, both of which will appear on .
“Itap a business decision out of my control,” Breathes commented, “nothing to do with content. thatap all I can really say.”
