Re: “Recipes for winter cocktails: Highland toddy, snow cap and more,” Dec. 31 Food story.
I think The Denver Post does a good job with the Food section. I enjoy reading the restaurant reviews and finding new recipes to try. At this time of year it is fun to throw some drink recipes out there for all to celebrate with. But not all of your readers are drinkers, and for a multitude of reasons. Some because they are recovering alcoholics and others because they simply don’t imbibe.
I don’t consume alcohol yet still enjoy dining and parties. I make a point to have the bartender make something special without alcohol for me and my spouse. I was surprised there were not a few non-alcoholic drink recipes mixed in with the cocktails featured in Tuesday’s Denver Post. There are plenty of ways to make a “virgin” drink that is full of flavor and fun. Too bad the Food section editors didn’t think of everyone who was planning to celebrate the end of 2014 on a beautiful cold night.
