We know you’ve thought about it. You’re walking through , thumbing through the vinyl and you think to yourself, “Gosh, I just wish I could build this fine independent record store out of Legos.” You hand your purchases to the dude at the counter and just can’t help but picture him with a detachable, smiling, yellow head.
Well, your vinyl-related dreams of blocks and claw hands can come true.
On , Lego enthusiasts can submit ideas for future projects to be turned into actual, build-able Lego sets. It’s kind of like a Kickstarter for Lego sets, where someone submits and idea and then you can go support it. If the set gets enough support, then Lego might actually make it.

I loosely based it on Twist & Shout (a record store in Denver, USA), but it’s amazing how many people have told me it looks exactly like their local record store! There’s just something about a record store that brings back so much nostalgia and memories to so many people.
As of Jan. 2, the project has 943 supporters and sadly still needs 9,057 votes to be considered by Lego. The project’s creator also offers some opinions on how it could look:
This could be a small modular building; a room scene; or even just a rack of records, a turntable, and a few minifigures. Record stores have a unique atmosphere; any set would have to capture that effectively, but it’s not hard given how iconic the typical objects are: crates, posters, album covers, large speakers, turntables, and so on.
But, will it come with a Lego Nathaniel Rateliff doing in-store performances? Will it include a little plastic deluxe version of Jack White’s “Lazaretto”? Can you buy a companion Lego set of Tattered Cover? Will it also have tiny paper watches and Chuck D figurines in the knick knack and gift section section?
