Interview with Deanna Molinaro and Danette Hastings, owners
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: I have always loved the beauty industry. When my daughter was young, I wanted a job where I could set my own hours. My intensions were to do nails until she went to school all day and then find a career. Here I am 29 years later still doing nails.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: The longevity, and camaraderie amongst stylists and our clientele.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: I love the friendships that I have made over the years. Not only with my co-workers, but all of my clients. I have been doing more than half of my clients for more than 20 years.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: Our biggest challenge is keeping all our clients happy. We know that there is a salon on every corner. We want them to feel special and like a part of our family when they walk in the door.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: We chose the name D’Amici because the friendships that we have in our salon is what we are known for. The D came from my name, and my cousin/business partner’s name is Danette. Danette has never had anything to do with this industry but she saw the closeness of all of us and wanted to be a part of it.
