The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office identified the two men rescued Tuesday night after their gyroplane crashed in a remote area of southwest Mesa County.
Pilot Mike Burton, 53, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and passenger Josh Humphries, 30, of Payson, Utah, were taken to the St. Mary’s Hospital .
Their condition is not yet known but will be updated when more information is available.
Mesa County deputies, St. Mary’s Careflight, Grand Junction Fire Department, Glade Park Fire Department and Mesa County Search and Rescue responded to the crash report that came into the Delta County dispatch center at 5:26 p.m. Tuesday from Burton, said a news release by the Mesa County sheriff.
Burton complained of back pain after the crash, the release said, and Humphries initially refused medical attention but was later taken to the hospital.
The search and rescue mission was completed around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, officials said.
