GOLDEN — Newly elected Jefferson County officials can now move into their offices and get to work after they were sworn in at a ceremony Tuesday.

County assessor Ron Sandstrom, Sheriff Jeff Shrader and Clerk and Recorder Faye Griffin are the newcomers to their respective offices, however, Griffin served two terms as clerk and recorder from 1999-2007 and just vacated her county commissioner’s seat.

Commissioner Don Rosier was sworn in for a second term as county commissioner as was Treasurer Tim Kauffman and Coroner John Graham. Undersheriff Ray Fleer was retained by Shrader and also sworn in as were judges in district and county courts.

Rosier noted the differences between starting his first term and his second. He said the county is in better shape financially now than it was in 2011 due to the better economy and he now brings more experience to the job after four years in office.

“We’ve done so many great things and want to keep that momentum going,” Rosier said.

Sandstrom succeeds Jim Everson as assessor and said that talk of him “coming in with a broom” and cleaning house is untrue. He plans to make some changes, but mostly said he looks forward to working with his staff.

“I just have some ideas on how I want things done, so there’s going to be some fresh air,” Sandstrom said. “Hopefully the staff will be conducive to me.

when it was learned that he owed $90,000 in overdue taxes. He previously told the trying to fix the situation and reaffirmed that on Tuesday.

Shrader — a longtime member of the Sheriff’s Office — recognized the , but looks forward to leading the department.

“I’m thrilled to be leading such a fine group of individuals,” Shrader said.

The Jefferson County Republican Party has yet to name a replacement for Griffin’s vacant commissioner’s seat from District 1. They have until Jan. 23 to pick someone or it goes to the governor to make a selection.
