Police in Walsenburg are searching for suspects in the attempted robbery early Wednesday of a travel center that failed when they were unable to open a cash register after firing a bullet at it.
The attempted robbery happened just after midnight at the Acorn Travel Center on the 400 block of U.S. 85/87, police said.
Two armed male suspects entered the store and ordered customers onto the ground. They fled in a pickup truck driven by a getaway driver.
Police described the truck as being dark-colored and a older model.
Nobody was injured.
Police said more information will be released when it becomes available and that the investigation is ongoing.
