THORNTON — Search warrant documents reveal that police in Thornton recovered a piece of glass artwork stolen from the Denver Botanic Gardens.
Hundreds of glass pieces by the artist Dale Chihuly were installed throughout the 24-acre Botanic Gardens at 1105 York Street and the installation brought record attendance to the gardens.
On the morning of Aug. 22, from one of the installations, called “Orbs and Cattails.” Three cattails and two orbs were missing, though they originally thought only one orb was taken.
Denver Police found one orb near the fence bordering the Botanic Gardens along Gaylord Street, but did not find the three cattails. They issued a bulletin through Crime Stoppers in September, notifying the public that the three cattails were stolen.
