Pope Francis enjoyed a spectacular trip to the Philippines, with a record crowd of 6 million reportedly turning out in Manila for an outdoor Mass.
But the pope did have one misstep — on the flight over — when he basically told journalists that those who insult the faith of others can expect retaliation.
The pope wasn’t justifying the terrorist attack on the French satirical paper, which he had condemned, but his comments still revealed an alarmingly limited appreciation of free speech.
