1 Woman throws keys during robbery attempt. On Jan. 7, Denver police responded to a robbery in the 1600 block of South University Boulevard. The victim told police she was walking to her car when a man approached and demanded the victim’s purse. She refused and the suspect pulled out a handgun and grabbed the purse. The victim then threw her keys away.

2 Victim finds stolen cellphone. A victim was able to recover a stolen cellphone Jan. 9 that was taken at Brown Elementary School. Denver police talked to the victim and her husband after he tracked the phone and observed the suspect on a bicycle in the 3200 block of West Colfax Avenue.

3 Ticket scalper caught by undercovers cops. On Jan. 10, a woman was arrested for scalping tickets to the Denver Broncos-Indianapolis Colts game in the 1000 block of South Broadway. The woman was approached by two undercover Denver police officers and offered them the tickets for $160 each. Face value was $95.

4 Neighbor plays loud music for revenge. A woman was cited for a noise complaint by Denver police on Jan. 12 after playing loud music in the 1600 block of Washington Street. The officer contacted the suspect, who said she was playing the music to get back at neighbors.

5 Patron punches owner, throws things. A man was arrested Jan. 13 after destroying property and punching the owner of Dougherty’s Restaurant and Pub, 5 E. Ellsworth Ave. The patron came in drunk and began throwing ashtrays on the patio. He punched the owner when he was told to leave.
