Earlier today, Bethesda Softworks, the developers behind The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series, announced that The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 worldwide June 9.

Bethesda also announced that they will be dropping subscription charges from the game, allowing players unlimited access to the massively multiplayer online role-playing game for the base retail price.

This isn’t the first release for the Elder Scrolls online. The game launched for the PC back in April of last year to mixed reviews. of the game’s disjointed single player and multiplayer options as well as various glitches.

In response, Bethesda will release The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited for the PC March 17. At that time, players will no longer have to pay for subscriptions. According to a release, all PC accounts, open or closed, will be upgraded to the Tamriel Unlimited edition and gamers who have left will be invited to return to the world of The Elder Scrolls.

It’s not the first time in recent memory that a company has essentially reinvented a MMORPG. Square-Enix did the same thing with Final Fantasy XIV Online, which garnered poor marks from media outlets upon its initial release in September 2010. It did much better when Square Enix came out with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn three years later in August 2013.
