Following a Mass at Denver’s Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Denver, more than 1,000 Catholics gathered at the west side of the Colorado Capitol for a pro-life rally last Saturday. (Kathryn Scott Osler, The Denver Post)

Re: “Archbishop leads 1,500 in pro-life march and rally,” Jan. 18 news story.

In my view, protesting abortion is as effective as protesting Colorado snow in January. A more valuable use of time and resources might be to contribute or volunteer to any educational or outreach cause that bolsters self-worth and responsibility skills in girls and women toward eliminating ill-advised sex (i.e., unprotected, careless, fearful, frivolous, risky, desperate — whatever motivates sex that leads to an unwanted pregnancy).

Men, are you game? You’re half the problem. I think women could use your help.
