Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson will not attend or play in this weekend’s All-Star Game weekend in Columbus, Ohio, the team announced. Johnson, the Avs’ only ASG selection, apparently has a lower-body injury, significant enough to not allow him to participate. No word if another Avs player will be added, but that appears unlikely.
See the blog below from Terry Frei, written after Wednesday’s game against Boston, and it’s obvious that Johnson has been banged up.
Johnson has a career-high 12 goals and he’s Colorado’s leader in ice time (24:25) and blocked shots (107).
