Sheepishly contemporary
Somehow it seems appropriate that you’d find a weird combination of music, grown-up games and eccentricity at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver (MCA Denver) at 1485 Delgany St. Black Sheep Fridays fits the bill — and our budget. Every Friday this winter from 6 to 8 p.m. in the MCA Café, museumgoers can experience a range of topical, yet wacky events including “Extra-Terrariums,” in which patrons make alien-inspired terrariums and “Miami Vice President,” a table reading of the TV show “Miami Vice” by Joe Biden and Dick Cheney impersonators. Have fun and enjoy something completely out of the ordinary before stepping into the museum’s galleries. Even better, MCA Denver admission is just $5 (normally $8) after 5 p.m. on Fridays. Black Sheep Fridays runs through March 27. Stop by anytime during the evening to enjoy the fun.
Bakery bucks
Starbucks is making afternoons a little sweeter with its popular “Sweet Receipt” promo. Through Feb. 2, make a purchase in the morning and bring the receipt back to any participating location the same day after 2 p.m. to get any bakery item for $1. (Breakfast sandwiches excluded.) Budget-conscious customers can buy a petite vanilla scone for $1.25 or banana for $1 in the morning to keep costs at a minimum. If you’re buying more than one item in the morning, pay for each one separately. Then, you’ll have more “sweet receipts” to share with friends and family later in the day.

Chipotle rarely serves up any big discounts, so this offer is even tastier. Order its organic tofu sofritas in any entrée today at any Chipotle. Then, bring your receipt back on your next visit from Jan. 27 through Feb. 28 for a free burrito, bowl, salad or order of tacos. What’s a sofritas? It’s shredded organic tofu, braised with chipotle chiles, roasted poblanos and a blend of spices. The deal works only if you bring an original receipt dated Jan. 26, 2015, that shows the purchase of one or more regular-priced sofritas entrées. While you get one free menu item per sofritas entrée listed on the receipt, you must redeem all the freebies on a receipt in one visit. For true cheapskates, there’s no need to make separate transactions for multiple freebies, unless you plan on redeeming them on different days. /html/sofritasmonday.html
Sooper deal
When it comes to the grocery bill, we all love to see savings — especially when it’s totally free. King Soopers offers a digital coupon for a free product almost every week. Every Friday, customers can download the digital coupon for the freebie to their loyalty card. The coupon is only available on Fridays, but you have two weeks to redeem the coupon. Just pick up the product at your local King Soopers, swipe your shopper’s card at checkout and the discount will automatically be applied. So far, they’ve offered free bottled tea, yogurt, frozen entrées, granola bars and shampoo. Who knows what’s next?
