Winter isn’t over yet, but forecasters are predicting it will certainly feel like it in Colorado on Monday and into the middle of the week.
The National Weather Service in Boulder is calling for highs in the low 70s on Monday in Denver.
The record high temperature for the date is 73 set in 1982.
“It’s above normal warmth, which is normal around here,” said Kyle Fredin, a meteorologist with the weather service. “What’s going on is just a normal ridge of high pressure, which is actually a weak ridge of pressure around the western United States.”
Overall temperatures in the month of January have been relatively normal, Fredin said.
Tuesday’s high is forecasted to be 70 degrees before dropping on Wednesday to a high of 56.
Meanwhile, the East Coast is bracing for that could potentially drop feet of snow between New Jersey and Maine starting on Monday.
Areas along the seaboard are busy preparing for the onslaught.
Flights were not heavily impacted at Denver International Airport on Monday morning, though officials said the storm is impacting flights to some East Coast destinations.
