NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The evolving game story is . The Avalanche produced its 20th shot in the final minute of regulation, just before Nick Holden scored at 19:24 to make it 3-3 and force overtime, and Colorado fired three more in OT on backup goalie Carter Hutton. Like last season, this team is beginning to produce under pressure, but the Avs aren’t turning enough close games into wins. They are 8-11 when the game goes into OT, and 12-8-11 (actually 12-21) in one-goal games. The Avs have points in five of their last six games but have won just twice in that stretch.
Avalanche coach Patrick Roy:
The Preds, in comparison, are the Avs of last season. They are 19-2-1 at home, tops in the NHL, and 20-4-5 (actually 20-9) in one-goal games.
Avs host Nashville on Friday in Denver. Colorado will be fresh. The Preds will not. They play Thursday at St. Louis. Terry Frei will be your guy at the Pepsi Center.
